Goals
A number to reach, and a visible distance to it.
Numeric, checklist-based, or milestone goals, set by you or by the member, with primary goals and sub-goals, recurring cycles, and PLAS awarded automatically on completion.

A goal is not a checklist
How goals are built
Everything available to you.
Same fixed, custom, and hybrid model as checklists, with more structure underneath.
What is being measured
Goal types
- Numeric, such as complete ten courses or log twenty workouts
- Checklist-based, where a set of items constitutes the goal
- Milestone, tied to a level, achievement, or event
Who sets it
Ownership
- Fixed goals you define for everyone
- Custom goals the member creates for themselves
- Hybrid, where you set the frame and they fill in the detail
Who it belongs to
Scope
- Individual
- Team or group, with progress rolled up
- Category-wide, such as Learning or Consistency
Depth and cadence
Structure
- Primary goals with nested sub-goals
- Time-bound with a deadline, or open-ended
- Recurring cycles, weekly, monthly, or per challenge
- Multi-phase targets that unlock in sequence
What it awards
On completion
- Points, levels, achievements, automatically
- Progress bars updating live as the number moves
- Placement on profiles, dashboards, feeds, and challenge pages
Worked example
Three goals, three different pulls
These are real goal cards. Notice that each one states the remaining distance rather than the progress made.
Active goals
One member
Act
Learning: complete 10 courses
Seven of ten. Three more to unlock the reward, worth 500 points.
Act
Consistency: 30 day streak
Twenty-three of thirty. Seven more, and the reward is an achievement rather than points.
Act
Team: activity goal
450 of 500. Fifty more, worth 1,000 points, and it belongs to the whole team.
Measure
Each updates live as activity lands
No refresh, no manual entry, no reconciliation.
Result
Completion fires PLAS automatically
And the recurring ones reset for the next cycle without anyone touching them.
Recipes

Note
One or two active goals per member. A dashboard of eleven goals is a dashboard of eleven things being ignored.
Note
Set the first goal so it is met inside a week. A goal that takes a quarter to reach teaches nothing in month one.
Note
Use goals for numbers and checklists for sequences. Using the wrong one is the most common mistake we see.

Goals is one of 7 parts.
