Event Replays

Event Replays

Asynchronous members are still members.

Replays are tracked the same way live attendance is, with duration and completion, so a member watching on Sunday earns the same progress as one who was in the room on Thursday.

The event lifecycle

Schedule

It gets created and found

>

Register

People commit to coming

>

Attend

They show up, or they do not

>

Reward

It feeds the rest of the platform

If replays do not count, you are punishing a timezone

Every platform with international members or shift workers has a group who structurally cannot attend live. Treating them as absent means the most disciplined member in Manila scores lower than a distracted one in Chicago who left the call after ten minutes. That is not a measure of engagement, it is a measure of where somebody lives. Tracking replay viewing with the same rigor as live attendance fixes it, and it costs you nothing because the recording already exists.

How replays work

Everything available to you.

Recorded automatically for virtual events, then treated as a first-class attendance record.

Placement

Worked example

A member eleven hours ahead

She has never attended a live session and she is one of your most engaged members.

Cohort 12 weekly call

Viewed Sunday morning, Manila

Schedule

Thursday 7pm New York is 8am Friday for her

She has a job. She has never once attended live.

Attend

Replay available Friday, she watches Sunday

Ninety-four percent of a ninety minute session, in two sittings.

Reward

Full credit awarded, streak protected

Because the platform is measuring engagement, not timezone.

Reward

Tagged replay-viewer rather than attended-live

Two different records, because the difference is real and worth knowing.

Register

Her cohort leader sees 94 percent, not absent

Which is the difference between a coaching conversation and none at all.

Recipes

Three you could build this afternoon.

Read them as when, only if, then. That is the whole grammar of the system.

Let a replay save a streak

When

A member misses a live session

Only if

They watch the replay within 48 hours

Then

Protect the streak, because the behavior you actually want is the watching, not the calendar coincidence

Send the replay before they ask

When

An event ends

Only if

Member registered but did not attend

Then

Deliver the recording automatically with the timestamp of anything relevant to them

Reward promptness, not just completion

When

A replay is viewed

Only if

Watched within 48 hours of the event

Then

Award more than a view three weeks later, since currency is part of the value

Before you build

Three things worth knowing.

Note

Track live and replay separately, then treat them equally for scoring. Those are two different decisions and most platforms confuse them.

Note

Where viewers stop in a replay is the cleanest content feedback you will ever get. Live attendees stay out of politeness. Replay viewers do not.

Note

A growing replay library becomes a genuine asset. Do not let past events disappear off the calendar.
