Quizzes

Forward-facing quizzes built to attract prospects rather than test members. They take two minutes, they produce something the taker wants, and the result sits behind a signup.

The insight cycle

Attract

A quiz brings them in

>

Understand

You learn who they are

>

Match

They get routed to the right thing

>

Improve

They tell you what to fix

The only lead magnet people actually finish

A downloadable guide asks somebody to give you their email in exchange for homework. A quiz asks them to spend ninety seconds thinking about themselves and then offers to tell them something they do not know. One of those gets finished and the other gets downloaded and never opened. The quiz also arrives with something the guide never does: a scored profile that tells you exactly what this person needs, before they have paid you anything.

Custom implementation today, self-managed tooling coming.

ASSESS is delivered through custom architecture for trusted partners right now. The builders and configuration panels that would make it a self-serve plugin are still being scoped, which is why it carries In scoping rather than Live.

How an acquisition quiz works

How it is designed to work.

Public-facing, scored, and gated at the result rather than at the start.

Worked example

A stranger becomes a segmented lead in ninety seconds

She arrived from a search result and had never heard of you.

Acquisition quiz

10 questions

Attract

She starts the quiz with no signup required

Which is why she starts it at all.

Learn

Ten questions, weighted across four outcomes

Ninety seconds, and she is thinking about her own situation the whole time.

Attract

Teaser result shown, full result gated

She has already invested the ninety seconds, so the signup is easy.

Match

Account created, ten answers written as tags

You now know more about her than about members who joined a year ago.

Match

Welcome sequence chosen by her result

Not a generic welcome. The one written for people who scored the way she did.

Recipes

Three you could build this afternoon.

Read them as when, only if, then. That is the whole grammar of the system.

Never gate the start

When

A visitor lands on the quiz

Only if

They are not registered

Then

Let them begin immediately. Asking for an email before question one destroys the completion rate that makes the whole thing work

Make the result specific enough to sting slightly

When

A quiz completes

Only if

Any taker

Then

Write outcomes that are recognizable rather than flattering, because a result everybody likes is a result nobody believes

Segment the follow-up by result

When

An account is created from a quiz

Only if

Their profile type is known

Then

Send the sequence written for that type. A generic welcome wastes the best segmentation data you will ever collect

Before you build

Three things worth knowing.

Note

Eight to twelve questions. Below eight the result feels arbitrary, above twelve people leave.

Note

Make the result shareable. A quiz result posted to social is the cheapest acquisition channel on this list.

Note

The quiz is worth building only if the follow-up differs by result. Otherwise you built a slow email capture form.
